19w

Currently 'enjoying' the first illness of my pregnancy. Having gone all-out to avoid catching husband's tummy bug last week, I have been stricken with a common or garden cold (and given it to him for good measure). Annoyingly, I'm too busy at work to take time off sick, and can't take any cold remedies either, so am having to snuffle my way through this one.

The internet assures me that colds are not dangerous to baby, but I will still rest much easier if everything is OK with the scan on Friday.

Meanwhile, the current count for people giving me a seat on the tube = women 3, men 1.

16w 6d

Midwife appointment went well this morning. The blood tests from my booking appointment have revealed that I'm immune to rubella (well, I did have it when I was 6, and was immunised at 13). Also I don't have hepatitis, Aids or (and I was really concerned about this one) syphilis.

Results of scurvy, the black death and leprosy still TBC.

Anyway… a quick poke with the handheld microphone thingy soon revealed a heartbeat, still happily beating away somewhere just below my navel. Next midwife appt is on 17 Oct... in the meantime, my next ultrasound scan is only two and a half weeks away. Then down to Cornwall for a week in a nice cottage. w00t!
